Le Cirque

image

If, like us, you enjoy weird but beautiful things from the past, you will, like us, love the blog A Journey Round My Skull. Their incredible finds are a constant source of inspiration and on top of its impeccable aesthetic credentials, the blog is a pleasure to read too.
One of our favourite posts from A Journey Round My Skull was Le Cirque, a superb collection of vintage French circus posters.

We absolutely love these19th Century posters because their subjects fire up our imagination. Look at the Shadow Silhouettist, how clever is he? Some of them are downright odd (Spider-Woman? Really?) but we nonetheless find them fascinating. Enjoy this wonderful collection here.

Thank you Mary-Margaret for allowing us to feature your amazing collection.

Peter & the Wolf

image

As the weather has been getting increasingly autumnal in London, we've reminded ourselves what we like to listen to when the weather gets blustery: David Bowie's 1978 narration of Peter & the Wolf. Perfectly soothing.

Or watch for the third time this superb Peter & the Wolf animation, which won tons of awards. Perfectly riveting.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

image

Kizzy is one of our little editors. Last month, we sent her to the screening of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and here are her thoughts about it:
"When Greg Heffley goes to middle school he attempts to get into the yearbook, but it's not as easy as it looks, especially when you have a best friend like Rowley who's not exactly ready for middle school!
Many funny happenings occur such as Greg being beaten up by a annoying girl named Patty Farrell( in wrestling club)who later gets her revenge. A friend of Greg's, Chirag Gupta informs Greg all about the ' THE CHEESE TOUCH' and it's history and Greg's older brother Rodrick gets in trouble all because of a magazine!!!!!!!
But does Greg get want he wants? Find out SOON!
This was a fabulous and fantastic film and everyone should see it!! It's happy.
It's sad.
And it's hilarious!!!!!"

Check out the trailer here.
